Dr Benham's retirement
Dear Patients
I’m writing to let you all know that I will be retiring as a partner from Southview Medical Practice at the end of June this year.
I first joined Southview 31 years ago, in my first role after completing my GP training, and returned as a partner in 1997. After 29 years in the partnership, I feel that the time is right to step down and allow my highly capable partners, supported by a strong new management team, to continue running such an excellent practice.
Sadly, I wasn’t here long enough to enjoy the famous pool table in the waiting room at the old surgery—something I heard so much about—but I have had the privilege of seeing families grow, with babies becoming adults and starting families of their own. I have especially valued the continuity of care that lies at the heart of general practice, and I sincerely hope this remains a core value in primary care as the NHS continues to evolve.
I have spent almost all of my professional life at Southview, and I have truly loved my time here. The practice team and our patients have felt like a second family to me.
Although I am sad to say goodbye, I am also looking forward to new opportunities and challenges ahead.
Dr Benham
